Obituary for Carole Rydberg Krasowski

Carole Rydberg Krasowski
Carole (Rydberg) Krasowski, wife of Frank; loving mother to Frank Krasowski, III, Traci Krasowski Smith, and Paul Krasowski; and resident of Sandy Hook, CT since 1973, died on Monday, June 27th, 2016, in Danbury, CT. She was 69.

Carole was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 26th, 1946 to the late Karl and Olga Scherbach Rydberg. She attended Bridgeport Central H.S. (class of 1964) where she met her sweetheart and future husband, Frank Krasowski. The two were married at Bridgeport Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church in 1967, after Frank completed his service in the United States Navy. Carole and Frank briefly lived in Stratford, CT before settling down in their present home in Sandy Hook, where they raised their three children. Carol graduated from Butler Business School and was employed by General Electric in Bridgeport, and later, Taunton Press in Newtown, but for most of her children's formative years, she was home with them as a stay-at-home mother.

Known by all as the consummate good neighbor, active parishioner, supportive friend, and most importantly, an exceptionally active and devoted mother to her children and grandchildren, she brought joy and support to many. Carole, affectionately known as “Mrs. K.,” is remembered by the children who grew up on Cherry Heights Terrace in Sandy Hook as a mother to all the neighborhood kids as well as to her children’s friends, who regularly traipsed through their home. Carole remained exceptionally close with her children, despite the distant cities to which they relocated, and she and Frank routinely traveled up and down the east coast to pay visits to them or to pick them up at the airports in and around western Connecticut when they returned. Her grandchildren adored her and her games of "Go Fish,” Bocce ball, and completing puzzles as well as the warmed towels she provided as they exited the pool after swimming, which was a frequent activity to look forward to at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Carole was the grandmother of storybook ideals: selfless, doting, and always loving. In her later years, Carole developed interests in gardening and birdwatching, and she was also an avid player of the online game “Words With Friends.”

She passed peacefully with Frank, the love of her life, and her three children by her side.

Viewing will be at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT on Thursday, June 30th, from 5-8 p.m. Church services will be held on Friday, July 1st, at 1 p.m. at Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, 1535 East Main Street, Bridgeport, CT. Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Sandy Hook, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Father Kivko Scholarship Fund at Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, P.O.
