Obituary for Edward Miles House

Edward Miles  House
Edward Miles House, age 88, of Newtown passed away Thursday, May 12th at Pope John Paul II Center. He was the husband of Elenore (Wold) House.

Edward was born October 19th, 1927 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Miles & Ethel (Thompson) House. He was a meat cutter at the age of 17, and later served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Military Police. Following his military service, at the age of 20, he was promoted to meat manager with First National Stores. He started his retirement in 1993, during which he watched endless UConn Husky basketball games, tended his tomato gardens and pool.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David House, and his wife Leslie of Middlebury, and a daughter, Pamela House of Sandy Hook. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Rebecca, and Patrick House. He was predeceased by two sisters Jane May & Marilyn Eck.

His family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Pope John Paul II Center for their outstanding care and compassion over the past four years.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, May 18th, 2016 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown from 5:00pm to 8:00pm culminating in a Eulogy at 8pm. Interment will be held at Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton, with military honors, at a later date.
